Migrant workers and international students in distress [in French]

In collaboration with two colleagues (Capucine Coustere & Charles Fleury), Danièle Bélanger, professor of Geography at Laval University, Quebec, and Chairholder of the Canada Research Chair in Global Migration Processes, conducts a study on the migratory trajectories of 23 migrant workers and students coming from Europe, Africa, or Latin America. She observes that the temporary migrant workers and international students who became unemployed are particularly affected by COVID-19. Not only are they losing an income, like numerous Canadians, but they are also experiencing greater uncertainty due to their precarious migratory status.
