Kathryn Barber is a post-doctoral researcher at Laval University in the Department of Geography. She works with professors Danièle Bélanger and Adèle Garnier’s team analyzing the use of AI in immigration. Her work uses a science and technology perspective to examine the development of social statistical techniques and their uses in nation-building and the governance of migration. Her recent publications include a special issue of Canadian Ethnic Studies, co-edited with Willem Maas, examining local integration in small cities and rural areas. Previously, she has held positions as a post-doctoral researcher in political science at Glendon campus (York University), assistant professor in sociology at the University of Toronto Scarborough and Lecturer in sociology at Brandon University.
